1. Who we are and what this policy covers

APO|APE News ("we," "us," or "our") is the news publication of the APE|APO Event Series and is published by Advancing Precision Medicine. We publish reporting and analysis on cancer care, diagnostic pathology, immuno-oncology, antibody-drug conjugates, radiopharmaceuticals, digital pathology, and molecular diagnostics. We are a media company, not a healthcare provider. We do not give medical advice, diagnose conditions, or hold medical records. Our content is for informational and educational purposes only.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

Newsletter subscription: your email address, and your name if you choose to provide it.
Correspondence: your name, email address, and the content of your message when you contact us, send a tip, or request a correction.
Advertising inquiries: your name, organization, and contact details when you ask about sponsorship.

Information collected automatically

Server logs: our hosting provider, Cloudflare, records the IP address, browser type, requested page, referring page, and time of each request, and uses them to serve the site and to block abuse.
Analytics: page views, time on page, referring sites, approximate location (country or city level), and device type, collected through the analytics services described in Section 5.
Banner measurement: when a sponsor's banner is displayed or clicked, we record that a display or click occurred. This count is not tied to your name or email address.
Newsletter engagement: our email service provider records whether an issue was opened and which links were clicked.

4. Cookies

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies of its own. Cookies may be set by the analytics services in Section 5, and by your browser to remember a form you have started. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.

5. Analytics and advertising

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and collects no personal identifiers. Where we also use Google Analytics 4, it collects pseudonymous usage data and may set cookies; Google Analytics 4 does not log or store full IP addresses. You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking cookies for this site.

Advertising

APO|APE News is supported by sponsors whose banners and labeled partner content appear on the site and in the newsletter. Banners are sold directly and placed by us; we do not use third-party advertising networks or interest-based advertising cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy and add a consent tool before any such cookie is set.

Sponsors receive aggregate numbers: how many times a banner was displayed, how many times it was clicked, and the resulting click-through rate. When you click a sponsor's banner, you leave our site and the sponsor's own privacy policy applies from that point. We do not pass your name, email address, or the articles you have read to any sponsor.

6. Health content notice

Article-level reading data stays with us. The articles you read on a cancer and pathology news site can reveal a health interest or condition. We treat that reading behavior as sensitive. We do not share the titles, headlines, or URLs of articles you read with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party for advertising or profiling. Sponsors see only aggregate traffic and banner counts. This reflects our obligations under the California Consumer Privacy Act and our own editorial standards.

7. The Weekly Brief and other email

We send the newsletter only to people who have subscribed themselves. There are no pre-checked boxes and no list purchases.
Every issue carries an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing takes effect within ten business days, usually immediately.
We record opens and link clicks to judge which coverage is useful. That data sits with our email service provider and is not shared with sponsors in identifiable form.
Sponsored items in the newsletter are labeled. Clicking one tells the sponsor a click occurred, not who clicked.
We never add you to a third party's mailing list.

8. When we share information

Service providers that process data for us: website hosting and security (Cloudflare), email delivery, and analytics. They act on our instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes.
Legal requirements: when disclosure is required by law, court order, or a lawful government request, or to protect the rights and safety of APO|APE News, our readers, or the public.
Business transfers: if the publication is sold or merged, subscriber records may transfer with it. We would post a notice on the site and, where the law requires, email subscribers.
Aggregate data that cannot identify anyone, such as monthly readership by region, may be shared with sponsors and partners.

9. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for a given purpose. EEA, UK, and Swiss residents

You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection under the GDPR and equivalent national laws, and you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. You may also complain to your national supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk).

Other U.S. states

Residents of Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws hold similar rights. We apply one standard: verified access, deletion, correction, and opt-out requests from any U.S. resident are honored.

10. Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Subscriber and correspondence records are held in access-controlled accounts. 11. Retention

Newsletter records: kept while you are subscribed and for up to 24 months after you unsubscribe, then deleted or anonymized.
Correspondence: up to 36 months, or longer if an editorial or legal matter is still open.
Server logs and analytics: identifiable form for no more than 13 months, then aggregated or deleted.
Banner counts: aggregate counts only, kept for the life of the sponsor relationship.

12. Children

The site is written for clinicians, laboratory professionals, researchers, and the biopharma community. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (under 16 in the EEA and UK). If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

13. International transfers

APO|APE News operates from the United States. If you visit from elsewhere, your information is processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from your country's. For transfers from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or another lawful transfer mechanism, and we sign data processing terms with providers that handle EU or UK personal data.

We update this policy when our practices, tools, or legal obligations change. Material changes are posted here with a new effective date, and significant ones are announced in The Weekly Brief or on the homepage.
